Also we should get rid of birthright citizenship. That would largely solve the issue as well. Nations such as the United Kingdom changed their rules in the early 1980s, we could do the same as well.

That's an interesting take! I would support that...

    Me too...

And while we are at it... I support the elimination of crime by eliminating the criminals...

I think democrats want due process with constitutional protections.

Non citizens aren't protected by the US Constitution...

I think you might want to re-read the Constitution.

"No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous
crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in
cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in
actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be
subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or
limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness
against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without
due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use,
    without just compensation."

How about just deporting the serious felons only. Perhaps have an amnesty that bans all illegals from being citizens for life. Resident and work permit, but if you commit a serious crime you would be tossed out.

If you're *convicted* of a crime, I agree. I don't think any country
would allow a felon to remain.

    Do you think ONLY felonies?

Hint: we also need immigration reform so that people can come to this country, work, contribute taxes as they already do, and punish
employers who exploit the system. But, see my earlier message about campaign finance reform.

I admit I don't know the details about the immigration process, but
my understanding is there is already a legal path. What about it
    needs reform?

The problem is Democrats largely want ALL illegals protected including rapists, murderers, serial theives that steal cars etc. Republicans such as
Trump want ALL illegals deported in general which creates much conflict.

I think democrats want due process with constitutional protections.

Non citizens aren't protected by the US Constitution...

If you read the part about due process, that is questionable. Due process protection is worded to apply to "persons" rather than "citizens," IIRC.

After all, you sort of need due process in order to get a chance to prove you are a citizen, do you not?

There used to be some in the FIDO POLITICS echo that thought the only proof
you needed was to be white and to speak English but that is not the case.

You are right - and I corrected my stance in another messqage before.
Sorry for misunderstanding. :-) But I'm willing to admit when I am
wrong and learn from my mistakes and others' discussion.
